Morgan Mansell Prize: The 2021 Victorian Melanoma Researcher of the Year

Congratulations to Dr Sophie Lim on being awarded the Morgan Mansell Prize for the 2021 Young Victorian Melanoma Researcher of the Year.  The prize was presented at Melanoma Research Victoria’s annual meeting (the MRV includes the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre; the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Institute, Austin Health; Alfred Hospital).  Dr Lim’s research was on lentigo maligna (precursor to melanoma usually found on the head/face of older people).  Due to her and other talented young Aussie researchers – we are edging just that little bit closer to improving survival rates and ultimately a cure for melanoma (the most common cancer in young Aussies aged between 15-39). Thank you also to Professors Mark Shackleton, Victoria Mar and Grant MacArthur and all the other medical professionals involved in adjudicating on the Morgan Mansell Prize.
