Melanoma is the most common cancer in young Aussies (15–39-year-olds). So after we lost our beautiful Morgan in 2018, we started Check4Spots Day (every 30th January, happy birthday Morgy). Although it won’t bring Morgan back, Check4Spots Day is your annual reminder to do just that. You are best placed to notice any suspicious changes to spots/moles and are in fact are more likely to know your own body better than the doctor. So if you haven’t had a skin check recently, we are asking that at the very least to take the time to grab a partner and check for any suspicious spots and especially in those hard to see areas (scalp, back, soles of feet, etc); and if you see anything of concern (change in size, shape, colour, texture, symmetry) – book an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. We can all sometimes be a bit “she’ll be right mate” when it comes to our health, or feel we are too busy or maybe even can’t afford to see a doctor – so if that is you – make sure you Check4Spots today.

Although skin checks should be done […]
